Stage 3 learning path
Trade basics here → deep dives: AutoCAD or Tally & GST. Stage 2 done? Course comparison.
Degree or trade? Vocational training teaches you to do the job in months. Use this guide to pick a category, then open the matching deep dive.
Vocational programs are job-oriented. You learn specific tasks — using Tally for accounts, styling hair, assisting in a clinic, managing social media for a shop, repairing devices, or serving customers in retail. Training includes:
Choose vocational first if you need income within 6–12 months, prefer practical work, or want to test a career before committing to a long degree. Choose degree first if your target role legally requires it (some engineering, medical, law paths) or you want deep academic specialization.
Many successful professionals combine both over time — a vocational certificate for early employment, then degree or advanced certification while working.

Typical ranges:
Duration alone does not equal quality — check hours per week and assessment rigor.
Green flags: published syllabus, working lab equipment, verifiable certificates, clear fee structure, exam before certification, physical address you can visit.
Red flags: certificate on day one, no assessment, only online ads without campus, guaranteed government job claims, pressure to pay cash without receipt.
National initiatives like Skill India and PMKVY aim to expand access to short-term training. Not every center runs government-funded batches — ask specifically about scheme alignment, eligibility and assessment body. Read our PMKVY guide for details.
See Career After Computer Courses for role examples. For drafting or accounts paths, read the Stage 3 deep dives linked above.
If job ads are “No” and you have not read a deep-dive guide, pause before paying fees.
ITIs are government institutes with fixed trades. Private authorized centers often offer flexible schedules and computer + service-sector mixes.
No. Good programs teach skills and may offer referrals — you still interview and show up.
