Design & Drafting

AutoCAD 2D & 3D

AutoCAD is the drafting software used by civil, architectural, mechanical and interior design offices to produce accurate technical drawings. This course begins with the interface and 2D drawing and editing commands, then covers layers, dimensions, text and drawing standards, and finishes with 3D solid modelling, layouts and plotting.

It suits ITI and diploma students, civil and mechanical students, and anyone who wants to work as a draftsman. A basic understanding of measurements and geometry helps; drawing skill by hand is not required.

Frequently asked questions

Is AutoCAD hard to learn?
The basics can be learned in a few weeks of regular practice. Speed and accuracy come from drawing many real plans, so practise beyond class hours.
How long is the AutoCAD course?
The AutoCAD 2D & 3D programme in our records runs for 6 months.
Do I need an engineering background?
No, but understanding measurements and basic geometry helps. ITI and diploma students often find it easiest to start.
What should I show in an AutoCAD interview?
Bring a portfolio of drawings — a house plan, a mechanical part with dimensions and a 3D model — and be ready to draw a simple plan in front of the interviewer.
